WHO ARE WE?
The Ceïba Foundation is a corporate foundation set up by the Socri Reim property group in September 2021. The aim of the foundation is to advise local authorities on the development of nature in the city.
WHY CEÏBA?
The Foundation is named after the emblematic tropical tree. In Mayan culture, the Ceiba tree is sacred for its size and beauty. This tree symbolised the universe and was considered a link between humans and the spirit world. The Ceiba’s foliage is very extensive. The projection of the crown of the tree on the ground can cover 2,000 m², or half a football pitch. This image is a perfect illustration of our Foundation’s aim: “to cover cities with nature”.
OUR MISSION
The foundation aims to preserve and promote nature and biodiversity in the cities of the 21st century. To achieve this, the Ceïba Foundation will be organising actions to renaturalise, revegetate and depave soil, reduce heat island phenomena and improve the water cycle and biodiversity, in urban environments in France and abroad. These means of action contribute to the fight against global warming and the promotion of sustainable development. Raising green awareness and helping to design a more eco-friendly urban future that encourages interaction and social cohesion are the founding principles of our project.
