La Coupole and Nîmes city centre are about to experience a historic turning point: at a press conference on 11 June, SOCRI LIMITED confirmed that it would be opening a Galeries Lafayette department store in autumn 2025, and is now embarking on a new phase of works to accommodate it.
In June 2021, at an event marking the takeover of La Coupole, Nicolas CHAMBON, Chairman of the Group, expressed his ambition to restore the shopping centre to its former glory.
Three years later, after a successful first phase of transformation in May 2023, including a significant renovation of the central square under the famous dome, for a budget of 1 million euros, SOCRI LIMITED is already showing encouraging results. In particular, this means a significant increase of +17.8% in sales and +6% in visitor numbers in 2023 compared with 2019.
SOCRI LIMITED, which already owns the Galeries Lafayette stores in Béziers and Avignon, managed by its partner Planet Indigo, is now adding the Nîmes store to its portfolio, and is delighted to announce the start of the second phase of works, planned to radically transform La Coupole de Nîmes. This ambitious project, with a budget of 9 million euros, will include the complete renovation of the main entrance on Avenue Général Perrier, the installation of modern escalators and the restructuring of the commercial level above Les Halles to accommodate the department store.
At the same time, the city of Nîmes is undertaking renovation work in the surrounding area, establishing a partnership with the SOCRI LIMITED group.
Galeries Lafayette, a renowned brand and symbol of luxury, elegance and the French art of living, promises an exceptional shopping experience in the heart of Nîmes, reinforcing its economic and cultural dynamism.
